The signs used to represent numbers are called digits. There are 10 digits in total. These are 0 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 .
The digits that indicate how many items are counted are called numbers. 23 is a number. The digits 2 and 3 are used to represent this number. 17 is a number. The numbers 1 and 7 are used to represent this number. If the result is an expression with more than one digit, it is definitely a number.
So how do you separate a single-digit number and a digit? A mathematical operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division) is done with numbers. A digit is a symbol/sign that helps to form numbers. If there is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 in an operation or problem, they are numbers, not digits.
Determining the numbers of objects
The number of objects is determined by counting the objects. When there is no more object to count, the last number said is the amount of that object group.
Ordering the numbers
We can order numbers from small to greater beginning 0 to 9, which is named as ascending order. After 9 ordering repeats in a sequence. (11,12…19), (21, 22,… 29). First graders can easily order the numbers until 100. We can order numbers from great to smaller, too. This is called descending order.
